Italian Birch Plywood Manufacturing – Villantrio, Italy

In 2013 San Giorgio was paying to dispose of waste wood chips. After consulting with CETY Engineers a boiler connected to a Clean Cycle II (CCII) unit was proposed. Heat from the burning of the wood chips now heats the factory while the excess heat is converted by the CCII unit to offset internal power demands. Overnight when the factory is consuming less power, the excess is sold on the grid. In the first 10 months after installation 12,270 hours of runtime created 1,227 MWh (100 kW average per day) consuming 409 tonnes of wood chips with a total availability of 90%. San Giorgio now saves $240,000 per year in avoided transport and tipping expenses. They recently purchased another CCII unit.
