Fuel Efficiencies – Majuro, Marshall Islands

On the Marshall Islands imported fuel is especially expensive. The Marshall Electric Company (MEC) installed two Clean Cycle II (CCII) units to make 194 kW of power to allow their generators to run at lower levels saving fuel without any decreases in power production. By only adding two 20 ft ISO containers MEC has saved approximately 350,000 liters of fuel per year, produced 1,552,000 kWh per year, and eliminate 10,000 tons of CO2 emissions over 10 years. The payment agreement used a portion of the yearly fuel savings to cover the costs of the two CCII units.
